The purpose of this project is to construct approximately 150m of Type 2 Trail and 220 m of Pedestrian Boardwalk, within the undeveloped 10-meter-wide Wieland Road right-of-way.
The work generally consists of, but is not limited to, the following:
a) Trail Construction: This project includes the construction of approximately 150m of Type 2 Trail.
Type 2 – Crusher Fine Surface Paths: These trails are suitable for low to moderate use and should accommodate hiking, running, biking, and limited use by equestrian riders and should be barrier-free, and accessible. Grades should be less than 6% and the trail must be adequately crowned to accommodate grades between 6% and 12%. Refer to Attachment 4 for construction specifications. Trail construction works include, and are not limited, to the following:
• Scraping/excavating approximately 150m of the trail surface down to mineral soil
• Trail cross-section is 2-meters-wide with a 1.5-meter-wide running surface
• Ditching/culverts as required
• Spun geotextile on cleared trail surface
• 75mm of 20mm minus road base
• 75mm of 10 mm crusher fines/screenings
b) Pedestrian Boardwalk Construction: This project includes the construction of approximately 220m of Pedestrian Boardwalk. Refer to Attachment 4 for construction specifications. Boardwalk construction works include, and are not limited to, the following:
• Boardwalk surface width 1.5-meters
• Diamond piers are specified; however, helical piers, gabion baskets, or other low impact and comparable inorganic pier design will be considered.
• Cedar, Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) Treated Fir are specified; however, rough cut fir, rough cut yellow cedar, or other comparable lumber will be considered.
